Dominick “D.J.” Stinelli, CPA, is a member of the Steel Tower Investments extended team and a partner at Urish Popeck & Co. He brings over 20 years of specialized experience in tax planning and compliance for high-net-worth individuals and privately owned businesses. In his frequent collaborations with the Steel Tower leadership team, D.J. adds a proactive perspective on the tax implications within clients’ portfolios, enabling managers to offset taxable gains and losses through investment strategies. In the area of estate planning, he helps clients achieve their goals and avoid unintended taxation consequences as complex state and federal regulations evolve.
D.J. has built his strong relationship and shared values with the Steel Tower team as partner at its affiliated venture Urish Popeck & Co., which he joined in 2010. Previously, he was a senior tax professional at the Global Employment Services group at Deloitte and the Wolf Group, where his clients included both international corporations and employees of organizations such as The World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the United Nations. In these roles, he gained expertise in the tax needs of U.S. expatriates and foreign nationals, counseling companies and individuals on national, state, and local tax structures in multiple countries.
Earlier in his career, D.J. provided tax services for professional athletes at Octagon, one of the largest sports management agencies in the U.S. As a member of its Financial Services Group, D.J. worked closely with investment advisors to serve high net worth clients.
D.J. earned both a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a master of business administration from Pennsylvania Western University Clarion (formerly known as Clarion University of Pennsylvania). In 2021, he earned a Certified Exit Planning Advisor credential from the Exit Planning Institute to help clients craft successful business exit strategies, including maximizing their business growth.
D.J. lives outside Pittsburgh with his wife and two young children.
